About Formulaic

Formulaic is a Mozilla Innovation Studio project.

Our goals are to:

  • Abstract the natural language prompt layer away from generative AI applications, so that prompts can be changed more frequently by non-engineers
  • Put the power of generative AI into the hands of more domain experts in every field, regardless of whether they understand computer programming
  • Enable AI application developers to build more neutrally and interoperably, so that they can use multiple models or switch more easily when the model they started with isn’t meeting needs
  • Encourage our community to take prompts written for proprietary models and revise them so that they run consistently on open models
  • Give developers confidence that they can achieve great results with open models
  • In the end, create more competition and choice and let the best tools win
